Houston, TX - Dean's Professional Services- Smith & Dean, Inc. announces its 9th annual Gregory D. Smith Memorial Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a graduating High School student who is enrolling in college courses for the fall of 2019. The submission deadline is July 1, 2019.
The Gregory Dewayne Smith Memorial Scholarship is open to any high school senior who has completed 100 hours of community service within 24 months prior to the date of his/her submission. Community service must be verifiable with letters of recommendation and contact information. Each student must also submit a 500-word essay titled "What I Am Doing to Make a Difference in My Community". DPS will be awarding two $500 scholarships to those selected by the DPS board of directors.
This scholarship is in honor of Gregory Dewayne Smith, a board member for Dean's Professional Services who lost a battle with pneumonia in early 2011. Jennifer Dean, President and CEO of Dean's Professional Services is quoted as stating "The student chosen to receive this scholarship should possess the same passion for change that Mr. Gregory Smith possessed".
